It was a very good week of school this week. Two good weeks in a row?! I'm in shock!=) Here's what Mj did this week.
Bible: Mj learned about Gideon's meeting with the angel of the Lord. Gideon obeyed God and broke down the altars of Baal. We also talked about Gideon being told that he would defeat the Midianites. Gideon wanted assurance and asked God to make the ground dry and the fleece wet and then the next day to do the opposite. Mj is memorizing Isaiah 45:22 "Look unto Me and be ye saved all the ends of the earth for I am God and there is none else."
Mj made these glasses with his verse written on them.
English: Mj wrote instructions on how to rake leaves. He went through the whole writing process - Planning, drafting, revising, proofreading, and publishing
Reading: Mj read the parable of the lost sheep. His skill station day was all about following directions.
Mj followed instructions to make homemade icecream.Spelling: Mj practicing his word list with alphabet magnets.
Math: Mj worked on double digit addition. Also, Mj learned how to solve a word problem with extra information that you don't need to know.
Science: Bones! Mj is so excited to be learning about our bones. He learned that bones are categorized by long, short, irregular and flat. He also learned about our joints - hinge, pivot, and ball and socket. He enjoyed playing Simon Says and figuring out what kind of joint he was using.
Mj's skeleton he made.
Heritage Studies: Mj is learning about the beginning of the colonies. This week we learned about Massachusetts, Marylan, Connecticut, New Hampshire, and Rhode Island. Mj's working on a chart of why the colonists came.
Mj also made a Thankful Turkey. He is thankful for mommy, daddy, school, food, his bedroom, his house, and God. Hmmmm.. I wonder why his little sister isn't mentioned on there! ;)
