Our Week in Review - Light, a Shape Poem, and Colonial Life

With the holidays coming it's been crazy around here, but we did get a good week of school in. One more week and then Christmas break!!!! I think I just might be more excited about it than Mj! =)

Bible: We have been going over the Christmas story. We started with Isaiah's prophecies of the Christ child and then saw how they were fulfilled in the New Testament. Mj memorized Isaiah 9:6 "For unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given: and the government shall be upon His shoulder: and His name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace." I taught him how to sing this like they do in Handel's Messiah. He enjoyed sing "and the government shall be upon His shoulder."

Mj added Isaiah and Christ's birth to our Bible timeline.
English: Mj learned about shape poems and wrote a shape poem in the shape of a monkey.

Reading: Mj read about service dogs this week. He also began Dr. Doolittle.
Mj's favorite spot to read.
Math: Mj reviewed the hundreds, tens, and ones places.

Heritage Studies: Mj learned the things colonists ate and their etiquette rules.

Science: Mj learned about light. We did some experiments to show that light cannot bend; it only moves in a straight line. We also did an experiment with shadows.
An experiment - Can light bend?

Nope, light can't bend.
A shadow experiment.
Art: Mj made a gingerbread man from our craft box.

Mj and Jadyn have both been enjoying our advent calendar activities. Here are a few of them.
Jesus is the light of the world - They colored pictures of candles.

Jesus is born!!! They made a nativity for the wall.

The shepherds hear of Christ's birth - They made sheep with cottonballs.
You can check out what Jadyn and Gabe are up to in Tot School.
