Weekly Wrap Up

We had a busy week this week!  We accomplished a lot and were exhausted at the end of most days!  Here's what the kids were up to this week.

MJ - 5th Grade
Bible - We discussed how we can know things are true.  Mj was reminded that we need to check with the Bible.  The Bible is God's Word and is truth because God is truth.
English: Mj began writing a comparison/contrast essay.  Want to guess what he is comparing?  Legos and Mega Blocks, of course!
Planning his essay.
Math:  Mj added and subtracted large numbers and decimals.  We ended the week applying our math skills with word problems.

Reading: We discussed folk tales and fables.  He read "Mr. Worlf make a Failure".  He enjoyed the funny things Brer Rabbit did.  He also read some of Aesop's Fables.

Spelling: Mj worked hard on his spelling list and remembering the "i" before "e" except after "c" rule.

History: Mj learned about Henry Ford and the Model T.  A Model T cost $850. I asked Mj how much a car costs today.  He said, "Well, the commercials say $299."  I told him that's a month because they want you to take out a loan.  We've been looking at Honda Odyssey's so I told him that we could get on for $40,000.  His eyes got huge!  I told him not to worry, we don't buy cars new! lol  He really has enjoyed learning about early cars.

Science: We finished our chapter on rocks and minerals.

Extra: Mj has spent a lot of this week making his Lego party house and using his DS to make stop motion videos of his Legos.  I'm so impressed with his imagination. I need to upload his videos to my computer so I can share them.
Working on his typing skills.

Tangram fun.
Being a great big brother and a help!
Jadyn - Kindergarten
Bible: Jadyn loves coloring her book while Mj reads his Bible lesson out loud.
Beginnings: Jadyn learned about police officers this week.
Jadyn loved making a police hat and badge.  She really loved using the leftover mustaches from Job's birthday party to complete her police ensemble.
We did some fingerprinting to solve a case.
 Enjoying a traffic light snack.
Her brothers were happy to join in on snack time.

Phonics:  Jadyn reviewed "i", "t", and "s" and learned "n" and "h". She is loving learning how to read.
Reading her first sentence.
Making a "n" with her body when she heard me say a word beginning with "n".
Reading her book.

Math: Jadyn reviewed pattern sequencing, and numbers 0 and 1.
Working hard on her Zero Paper.
Jadyn found the caterpillar number cards in Gabe's bin and decided to work on her numbers.
Extra: Jadyn enjoys morning board time and her calendar notebook.
Her daily drawings from this week.
Gabe - Totschool
We focused on "c", the number 3, green, and just having fun! I try to keep Gabe busy with lots of different choices of activities.  He doesn't sit still for very long! ;)

Gabe playing with his cars. C is for cars!
Working hard on his green paper.
Coloring 3 ducklings.
He loved when I got the caterpillar number cards out.  He had a blast jumping on them.
Reading a book from his bin.
C is for car.
Some color matching caterpillars.
Enjoying his rock sensory bin.
Playing with some alphabet links.
Learning links matching.

Helping mommy help Jadyn with her math paper.
 C is for Crab craft.
Job - Teeny Tot
Job had a big week. He turned 1 on Wednesday!
He had a great birthday!
Job enjoyed some sensory play with Gabe.  The water table was a great birthday present!
Job is wanting to skip the walking stage and just start climbing. I found him in our entertainment center this morning.
Family Fun:
Discussing what they should draw for their daily drawing.  They're on an angry birds kick right now, so I'm pretty sure they agreed on an angry bird.
On Wednesday we spent our morning baking cookies and delivering them to our firemen to say thank you and celebrate Patriot's Day.
Ready to deliver cookies to the firemen.
Enjoying the park after our first fire department visit.
Mj loved the periscope at the park.
Wearing those kids out!
Delivering some more cookies to our firemen.

So that was our week!  What did you do this week?

I like you son's comparison essay. I don't think my son would be able to do that probably because I tell him that mega blocks are fake Legos.
