Soccer Season has Ended
Mj had his last soccer game today. The last 2 games he was able to start on offense. He was so excited. He really did improve a lot this season. He's already looking forward to next fall to play again!
Mj's 1st Lost Tooth
It was a big day at the Fortney household yesterday! Mj lost his first tooth!!! It's been pretty wiggly for awhile and yesterday while he was eating his lunch it finally came out! I can't believe my baby boy is losing his teeth, weren't they just coming in?!
Field Trip to the Apple Orchard
Last Friday we went to Sycamore Springs Orchard for a field trip with our co-op. We started with a wagon ride through the orchard. We got to pick a red delicious apple and then see the horses. When we got back, we watched how they prepare the apples for shipping. It was a fun field trip!
Mj is ready for the wagon ride.

Leaf Hunting at Bullfrog Valley Pond
For science today we went to Bullfrog Valley Pond to look at leaves and decide if they were wide & flat or long & thin. We hunted and hunted for leaves and had a lot of fun finding different leaves and drawing them in Mj's science notebook. After our leaf hunt, we watched the ducks at the pond and Jadyn loved it!
I love watching Mj's excitement as he learns new things! Even yesterday, on the way to soccer practice he was so excited that he could figure out what direction we were going since he knew that the sun sets in the west. So the whole way to soccer practice I kept hearing, "north, east, north, east, south, west." I hope he keeps that love of learning!

Not Me Monday
Yes, it's another "not me" Monday!
It wasn't me who ate a half gallon of ice cream in less than 48 hours. - Nope, not me!
It wasn't me who watched 2 movies on Saturday while I sent my kids to their rooms so I could watch in peace & quiet. - Nope, not me!
It wasn't me who used celery in our science experiment just so it was one less stalk of celery to eat. - Nope, not me I love veggies! LOL
And it certainly wasn't me, who gave my kids ice cream for supper last night because I was too lazy to make anything after church - Nope, definitely not me!!!

Celery Experiment
We've been studying the parts of a plant in science. Yesterday, we talked about the stem and how it takes water from the roots to the leaves and the food from the leaves to the root. We experimented with a celery stalk and red colored water. Mj thought this experiment was "AWESOME!" Those were his words!
Bad Hair Day
This was Jadyn's hair after her bath yesterday!! We were laughing so hard, but I don't think she understood why we were laughing so hard! Ha! Ha!

Beneath the Cross of Jesus
Beneath the cross of Jesus
I find a place to stand,
And wonder at such mercy
That calls me as I am;
For hands that should discard me
Hold wounds which tell me, "Come."
Beneath the cross of Jesus
My unworthy soul is won.
Beneath the cross of Jesus
His family is my own—
Once strangers chasing selfish dreams,
Now one through grace alone.
How could I now dishonor
The ones that You have loved?
Beneath the cross of Jesus
See the children called by God.
Beneath the cross of Jesus—
The path before the crown—
We follow in His footsteps
Where promised hope is found.
How great the joy before us
To be His perfect bride;
Beneath the cross of Jesus
We will gladly live our lives.

Julius Sturgis Pretzel Factory
Monday, we took a field trip to Lititz to see the Julius Sturgis Pretzel Factory. Mj loved twisting his own pretzel and learning the reason behind each part of the twist. Of course, the best part was eating some yummy pretzels!!!

Mommy/Son Date
Mj and I enjoyed a date yesterday. The Hubers gave us free tickets to see Sight & Sound's "In the Beginning." We began our date at Panera Bread - Yum!! Then we headed to Sight & Sound. This was Mj's first Sight & Sound play and he loved it! The first half amazed him. I asked him afterward what his favorite part was and he said the angels wearing heelies! The play was excellent and we both enjoyed it!
My silly boy drinking his chocolate milk!
Map Mobile
We've been learning about maps in Heritage Studies. So Mj made a mobile of a map from Columbus' time and a map of the world now. Jadyn was learning how to take apart Unifix Cubes and throw them all over the room! Ha! Ha!
