10 months

I cannot believe this precious baby boy is 10 months old already! He adds so much joy to our family! I'm so thankful that God "surprised" us with this precious baby! I love you Gaby Baby!

It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas!

Dancing to Manheim Steamrollers as we decorate the tree.

Jadyn puts her rocking horse ornament on the tree.

Mj with his ornament for the tree.

Gabe's liking his first Christmas tree!

The tree looks great and so do the kids (Gabe didn't make it and needed to go to bed! LOL)
Looking forward to this special time of year as we remember the importance of Christmas. Thank you Jesus for giving up the glories of heaven to come to earth as a frail human for me!

My Heart is Filled with Thankfulness

My heart is filled with thankfulness
To Him who bore my pain;
Who plumbed the depths of my disgrace
And gave me life again;
Who crushed my curse of sinfulness
And clothed me in His light
And wrote His law of righteousness
With pow’r upon my heart.

My heart is filled with thankfulness
To Him who walks beside;
Who floods my weaknesses with strength
And causes fears to fly;
Whose ev’ry promise is enough
For ev’ry step I take,
Sustaining me with arms of love
And crowning me with grace.

My heart is filled with thankfulness
To him who reigns above,
Whose wisdom is my perfect peace,
Whose ev’ry thought is love.
For ev’ry day I have on earth
Is given by the King;
So I will give my life, my all,
To love and follow him.

Our Week in Review - The week of Evangeslitic Meetings

We had the Galkin Evangelistic Team at our church this week so it meant late nights for us. We made it a laid back week of school.

Bible:
Mj learned about Ruth and her humility to work in the fields to provide food for Naomi and how God rewarded her with Boaz to marry her. He also learned about Hannah's prayer for a son and how God answered her prayer by giving her Samuel. Mj also learned about Richard Allen who was born a slave and later became a preacher. Mj memorized Galatians 6:10 "As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith."
Mj adds Ruth to our Bible Timeline.
English: Mj continued his study of verbs. He learned about the past tense of some irregular verbs and he also learned about homophones.

Reading: Mj read a poem about mice and made his own poem about dogs.

Math: Mj learned about the units for measuring weight, capacity, and length.

Science: Mj is continuing his study on the shape of the earth. Mj learned that people live all over the world and not "inside" the earth. We also talked about what happens when a child in Australia throws a ball up into the air - it comes back to the earth.
Mj placed children all over the earth.
In art, Mj made "Ralph the Dog." Check out Drawing with Rich for great drawing ideas!

You can check out what Jadyn and Gabe have been up to in Tot School.

And of course, we always have time for blocks!

Gabe enjoyed this new toy. He loved looking at himself and giggling!
Learning is hard work and wears a baby out!

Congratulations Orange Roadrunners!

On Sunday, Mj's soccer team had their end of the season party. They went bowling, ate pizza, cake and ice cream, and were surprised with trophies from their coach. They had a fun soccer season. I'm so thankful for the opportunity that Mj has to play soccer with his team!
Mj bowling!

Encouragement from Coach Tony.

Our Week in Review - More Colonists, a Round Earth, and Verbs

Another week has come and gone. Mj got a lot accomplished this week. Here's what he learned.

Bible: Mj learned about Samson and the need to have a humble heart. He memorized II Chronicles 7:14 "If My people, which are called by My name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land."

English: Mj learned about verbs this week. He learned that verbs are action words. He also learned that when you have one person or thing, you need to add "s" or "es" to the verb. Also, he learned the difference between "now" verbs and "past" verbs and that past verbs need an "-ed" suffix.
Writing the correct verb in the blank.
Reading: Mj read about koala bears and kangaroos. He couldn't believe that a kangaroo is about the size of a man's pinky when it's born and that a kangaroo can kill a man with it's legs.

Mj (AKA Indiana Jones) reading about Kangaroos.

Math: Double digit addition was the thing this week. By the end of the week he was adding 3 double digit numbers together! He thought that was the hardest thing ever!
I had him do a word problem on the board while I went to get the baby. I come back down and he turned his math problem into a truck.
We love playing Monopoly Jr.
Heritage Studies: We talked about the last couple colonies and why people came to these colonies. When he was reading about Pennsylvania he read "Quakers" as "Quackers." I couldn't get him to stop laughing. So whenever he came to the word "Quaker" he would giggle! I think he'll remember that the Quakers came to Pennsylvania!=)
Adding our last colony to the wall - Georgia. Colonists came to Georgia because they couldn't pay their bills.
Science: Mj began a unit on the earth. I had him draw a picture of him on the earth and then draw a picture of the earth in space. We talked about why when he drew him on the earth he drew the ground flat, but the earth in space he drew the earth round. We came to the conclusion when you see a part of the earth it looks flat, but when you see the whole earth it is round and we know that from the astronauts who have taken pictures from space.

Mj's picture of him on the earth and the earth in space.
Seeing what the ball look likes with his face smooshed against the side of it. It looked flat.
But away from the ball, it looks round.
Extras:
Mj loves to play Mancala. He beats me most of the time, too.

Mj and Jadyn enjoyed baking brownies with me.
Licking the batter is the best!
Mj made a Thanksgiving tree - He's thankful for his brother, sister, Bible and earth.

Tot School - "I"

Gabe is 9 months old and Jadyn is 29 months old
Tot School
Our focus this week was on the letter "i". Our week started off great. Jadyn was so excited to "do school," but by Wednesday she just wanted to play. So that's what she did. I'm enjoying watching her interact with Gabe. She loves him to pieces (literally - I think she's going to break him into pieces she hugs him so tight!)! Here are pics from our week.

I is for Iguana and Inchworm. I love the craft ideas on Totally Tots!
We used a bunch of Inchworm printouts from Confessions of a Homeschooler.
Jadyn matched her inchworms by color.
She laced a big inchworm!

Jadyn colored her "i" paper and yes she is wearing Christmas pajamas. LOLPlaying with her purse and practicing her counting.
Poms poms + Toilet Paper Tube = Loads of fun!

Color sorting pom poms in a muffin tin.
Baking brownies with Mj and Mommy! They're great at stirring and the kitchen was pretty clean afterward!=)
Of course, this is the best part of making brownies!
I pulled Baby Tad out and he was quite the hit with both Jadyn and Gabe.

It's quite the challenge to keep Gabe happy in his pac-n-play. He wants to be out crawling and causing havoc in the school room!=) He's all over the place and is so proud of himself! I love watching him explore and discover new things!

I think Gabe's trying to tell me he wants some workboxes, too since he took all of Jadyn's boxes off her shelves!

Jadyn and Gabe played with wooden spoons, measuring spoons, and rubber made dishes while I cleaned the kitchen.
My favorite pic of the week! Jadyn is all about Gabe right now. She wants to hug him and hold him all the time. Well..... this is what Gabe thinks about it! LOL!!!!!
