Suprise Party!

We had a great last play date with our co-op today and they surprised us with a party. Love these group of ladies and children! I'm so thankful for finding Grace Homeschool Fellowship when I started homeschooling Mj in kindergarten.  The ladies have always been such an encouragement to me!  Mj loved his classes and made a lot of great friends.  Sure going to miss them!

The kids enjoyed a yummy lunch.

Our Week in Review - Research Report, Division, & George Washington

I can't believe our school year is almost over and Mj will be in 3rd grade!!!  We will be done on Tuesday!  Then my boy will be going to Christian school in Miami and will be in 3rd grade.  Wow!  So many changes for both of us!  Here's what Mj learned this week!

Bible:  Mj learned about some of Paul's missionary journeys.  He memorized Proverbs 20:11 "Even a child is known by his doings, whether his work be pure, and whether it be right."

English: Mj researched monkeys and wrote his first research report.  He did an excellent job.  In his paper he wrote about what monkeys look like, where they live and what they eat!  Great work MJ!

Mj reading about monkeys.

Mj's finished research report!  Jadyn decided to make a cover to her research report, too! =)

Reading: Mj read about Fanny Crosby.  What a testimony!  He enjoyed finding hymns in the hymnbook that she wrote!

Math: More division!

Heritage Studies:  Mj learned about the Constitutional Convention and George Washington.  What an exciting time in our nation's history!  I hope Mj sees the importance of these men and the decisions that they made to make our nation great!

We looked at a dollar bill.  George Washington is pictured on the dollar bill. We also looked at the seal of the United States on the back of the dollar bill.
Mj wrote down character qualities that made George Washington a good first president - he was a good listener, he was a quiet man, he was wise, and he was brave.

We couldn't just stay inside and steady all week!!!!  It was such a gorgeous week we had to get out and enjoy it!

This will be my last "Our Week in Review" post.  I've enjoyed looking over the other blogs and getting ideas!  I'm excited for the opportunity Mj has this fall to attend Christian school.  We know God has been a part of the whole move to Miami, new job for my husband, and school for Mj!  It's been exciting to see the Lord work!  I will miss homeschooling, but I'm also looking forward to not homeschooling, too!  Does that make sense?! =)

Mj made a cover for his research report and guess who else decided to make a cover for their paper! Monkey see. Monkey do.

Gabe was sick part of the week with a fever.  Doesn't he look so pathetic? Mickey Mouse Clubhouse made him smile a little bit.

Enjoying some fun in the sun!!

Thankfully, Gabe was able to enjoy some sunshine, too!

...Mark asked me to be his wife and the rest is History!!!!

Joy in My Morning

"When darkness falls,
Temptations call,
And all around me seems undone.
You hear my pleas,
Supply my needs,
And tell me of Your wondrous love.

You are the joy in my morning.
You're my song of praise,
Just like the new day dawning,
Flooding my world with grace.

Though trials come,
And every one,
Can take me further from Your truth.
You calm my fears,
Dry all my tears,
And draw me closer, Lord, to You.

In Your there's no shadow of turning,
Constant in all Your ways.
You're growing my faith,
And I'm learning to lean,
On You all of my days.

You are the joy in my morning.
You're my song of praise,
Just like the new day dawning,
Flooding my world with grace."

Happy Mother's Day!

This is what was delivered to my door this evening!  Aren't they beautiful and I love the tote that the flowers are in!!!!  So blessed to be a mother to my wonderful children!
I told Mark that I thought it was so neat that there were so many carnations in the arrangement.  Carnations were my mom's favorite flower.  Missing her so much this Mother's Day!  She's been in heaven for almost 10 years, but I think I miss her more with time.  Miss our talks Mom!!!

Rubbish Rangers!

Today our youth group cleaned up our road we've adopted.  You never know what you may find on the side of the road.  My group found a snake, many soda and beer bottles, lots of straws, paper bags, and a no hunting sign.  After trash clean-up we enjoyed a healthy McDonalds lunch and then went mini-golfing.  Can't believe that this is our last activity with our teens.  We're going to miss them so much.  Enjoy pics from our day!

The Rubbish Rangers!
What is Josh doing with that flag?
Natasha's ball ended up in the water and it was a group effort to try to retrieve it!  Josh ended up digging in there with his hand and getting it.
My team!
All the girls!  Gonna miss them so much!

Our Week in Review - Division, Dulcimers, & Lego Dictionary

We're seeing the light at the end of the tunnel.  7 more school days to go.  Mj had a good week; here's what he learned.

Bible: Mj read 4 more chapters of the book Pelts & Promises.  He also learned about the Last Supper and we talked about Heaven.  Mj memorized John 14:2-3 "In My Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again. and receive you unto Myself; that where I am, there ye may be also."

English: Mj finished his unit on sentences.  He learned about run-on sentences and how to fix them.  Then we started on his last unit - writing a research report.  He will be doing his report about monkeys.

Fixing run-on sentences.
Reading: Mj read 1 story about dulcimers and an article about dulcimers.  During his "free" reading time he has been reading The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe.  He is over halfway through this book.  He's loved it!  Yesterday, he said to me, "Mom, this book gets more exciting as I read it.  I can't put it down!!"  Music to my ears.  He also loves to read through his Star Wars Lego Dictionary.  I think he's read this book through 50 times since he got it at Christmas!=)

Mj telling me all about the Star Wars characters while I work on school.

Math: Mj started doing division this week.  He's got a great grasp on it!

Mj reviewed his multiplication facts with his Education Cubes.
Heritage Studies:  Mj finished his chapter on clothes through history.  We looked at colonial clothing.

Mj made a 3-cornered hat.

Science:  Mj finished Science for the year!  We talked about the coast and sand.  Mj learned that sand is made of shell, quartz, and sometimes basalt.
